The underside of a tick sometimes is hard to see
They can blend in with surroundings.
|
They are hard to kill by just squeezing them
Dont burn ticks off with cigarettes, or hot matches. Using nail polish or other asphyxiants could cause the tick to regurgitate disease pathogens into the wound.
|
You can see the head in this picture
Grabbing the tick by his head and pulling him out is the best method.

|
To remove ticks use tweezers to pull them loose by grabbing their head, not the body.
They have been known to spread diseases such as rocky mountain spotted fever, lyme disease (named after the town where an outbreak happened), and ecoli. It stands to reason if they suck blood from animals and humans, that bloodborne pathogens can be transmitted.
